Instructional Support Specialist – 3rd & 4th Grades

St. Rita Catholic School is seeking a full-time Instructional Specialist for 3rd & 4th grades for the 2024-2025 school year. The ideal candidate will be a certified teacher with additional Special Education and Talented and Gifted certifications. Alternatively, they may be a certified teacher ready and willing to start the Special Education and Talented and Gifted certification processes immediately.



Utilizing The College and Heaven Standards the Diocese of Dallas set, instructional support specialists will create and provide experiences and activities that reteach, reset student behavior, enrich, and set the standard for differentiated instruction and accommodated learning for St. Rita Catholic School. Support Specialists must work collaboratively, flexibly, and creatively with their teams to augment and parallel classroom teaching.

·         Student Case Management

○     Monitor students with accommodations

○     Create lists and explanations of students who have accommodations to share with teachers at the beginning of the year

○     Receive and respond to academic referrals in Behavior Flip

○     Meet with teachers about students of concern and students who have a referral

○     Meet with parents and teachers to discuss students

○     Receive paperwork and questionnaires, give to teachers, collect, and send to appropriate testing facilities

○     Receive testing for students

○     Create an Accommodation Plan for students whose testing demonstrates a need

○     Communication with parents and helping to lead team meetings/ conferences

●     Enrichment

○     Teach small group enrichment classes for qualified students

○     Provide teachers with ideas and information for “fast finishers” and students who need enrichment

○     Pull out small, fluid groups of students to deliver extended and extra instructional opportunities

●     Support for Students

○     Support Students who need extra help

○     Pull small groups of students who need extra help

○     Be available to support students individually in the content classes

●     Test Administration

○     Pull students who need small group testing if a testing center or aide is not available

○     Create lists of students who receive accommodations for standardized tests and the Star 360 Test

●     Teacher Support

○     Push into classrooms to assist with teaching and learning

○     Pull out small, fluid groups of students

○     Create and update schedules as needed for this role and instructional aide that best fits the needs of the seven teachers you work to support.

○     Lead the way in instructional differentiation and lesson design

●     Administrative Responsibility for Academic Competition Teams

●     Share the values and beliefs of our Catholic faith

●     Participate and collaborate as a member of a teaching team and a content (vertically and horizontally) team

●     Meet with other Instructional Support Specialists to carry out the school-wide vision for instructional differentiation and scaffolded instruction
