Position Summary: Children’s Learning Center (CLC) Assistant Principal

Location: Prince of Peace Catholic School (5100 W. Plano Pkwy., Plano, 75093)

Mission: The mission of Prince of Peace Catholic School is to form students who are faithful, prepared, and confident that they can do great things through Christ who strengthens them.

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated individual to join our team as our CLC Assistant Principal. This early childhood leader will work collaboratively with the Principal and the administration team to ensure the effective operation of the preschool program, providing leadership in academic, social-emotional, spiritual, and administrative matters.

Ideal candidates understand their profession as a craft and are always looking for ways to improve. They are self-starters, who are collegial in their relationships with teachers and fellow administrators, communicate well with parents, and care for the success of the whole school.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities of the Position:

  • Curriculum Development: Collaborate with teachers to continuously develop and implement a developmentally appropriate curriculum that aligns with both diocesan standards and the mission of the school.
  • Instructional Leadership: Provide instructional leadership and support to preschool teachers in accordance with best practices, including observing classrooms, providing feedback, and facilitating professional development opportunities. Monitor the implementation of restorative practices and classroom cultures to ensure alignment with the mission.
  • Administrative Duties: Assist the Principal in managing day-to-day operations of the preschool, including scheduling, communication with parents and staff, enforcing school policies as stated in the handbooks, and creating and maintaining documentation of disciplinary incidents. Perform all other duties and special projects as assigned by the president/principal/assistant principals.
  • Student Support: Foster a positive and nurturing learning environment that supports the academic, social, emotional, and spiritual growth of each student. Work proactively with school counselors and nurse to address student mental, behavioral, and medical needs.
  • Spiritual Formation: Model and integrate Catholic faith and values into all aspects of the preschool program, guiding students in their spiritual development through song, prayer, and religious instruction.
  • Parent and Community Engagement: Cultivate positive relationships with parents, families, and the wider community, promoting open communication and involvement in school activities. Attend all special events at the CLC, including back-to-school events, Admissions Open Houses, Fine Arts Night, and Literacy Night, etc. Assist music teachers with planning Christmas, Thanksgiving, Mother’s Day, and end-of-year programs for the children.
  • Professional Development: Stay informed about best practices in early childhood education and participate in ongoing professional development to enhance leadership skills and knowledge.
  • Safety and Compliance: Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements and safety standards, maintaining a safe and secure environment for students, staff, and visitors. Abide by all policies as outlined in the POP Faculty Handbook, the Catholic Schools Office Handbook of Policies and Procedures and the TCCB ED Guide to Quality and Effectiveness.

  • Ability to collaborate effectively colleagues, parents, and community members
  • Demonstrated ability to lead curriculum development and instructional improvement initiatives
  • Familiarity with educational technology and its integration into teaching and learning
  • Evidence of and participation in continual professional development
  • Strong initiative, ability to manage multiple, competing priorities

Reporting to the Principal, we will look to members of the administration team to:

  • Support the school’s mission and be active in the life and culture of the school and parish community.
  • Represent POP at community functions as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with the policies and procedures of both POP and the Diocese of Dallas.
  • Initiate or develop other programs relative to the job description.
  • Perform all other duties and special projects as assigned by the president/principal.

Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with the policies of the Diocese of Dallas and Prince of Peace Catholic School. 

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, Educational Leadership, or related field (Master’s degree preferred)
  • Valid teaching certification
  • Prior experience working in a preschool or early childhood education setting

LSA Status (Fair Labor Standards Act): Exempt
