Bishop Lynch High School seeks a mission-driven assistant cheer coach to help the head coach lead the
program and actively coordinate the development and promotion of cheerleading. The assistant cheer coach
will assist the head coach in providing leadership and oversight of the cheer teams at practices, games,
competition and special events. The technical cheerleading skills are outsourced through a 3rd party vendor,
Express Cheer and work alongside the head coach. The assistant cheer coach is required to abide by the rules
and regulations established by Texas Association of Private and Parochial Schools (TAPPS). Reporting to the
cheer director and head coach, the assistant cheer coach must maintain a high level of ethical behavior and be an
outstanding motivator.
Job Tasks & Responsibilities:
• Serve as the liaison between Express Cheer and Bishop Lynch High School
• Lead and promote members of the junior varsity and varsity cheerleading teams
• Serve as a positive role model for students/athletes and the community
• Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with students/athletes, parents, staff, and
school administration
• If possible attend summer cheerleading camp and summer practices
• Communicate professionally and effectively with cheerleaders, parents, and director
• Attend all games, TAPPS competition and special performances as necessary, and assist with
game/performance strategies
• When available attend and assist at practices, summer camps, clinics, etc.
• Actively promote the formation of students and leadership development through the cheer programs
• Assist in the responsibility for inventory, selection and care of equipment/uniforms
• Assist in the responsibility for designated field care and locker room areas as necessary
Qualifications include:
• A high level of interpersonal skills and the ability to handle situations in a professional manner
• Ability to effectively resolve conflict
• Previous high school/college, or all-star cheerleading experience
• Demonstrated leadership and facilitative skills
• Leadership and interpersonal skills
