OLPH School is interviewing for a 2nd grade teacher for the 2023-24 school year. We want the ideal candidate to join our roster of experienced, motivated and effective teaching professionals. The successful candidate will assume a classroom of 15 to 18 students. We strive in every way to create an inspiring and enriching atmosphere both for our students and our personnel. Every day, we encourage our teachers to interact with their students on a personal level and to identify each student’s learning patterns. We put strong emphasis on physical activity, interactive learning and the use of appropriate educational tools.

The prospective teacher is responsible for supervising students within the classroom and other assigned areas; developing lesson plans and delivering group and individual student instruction within the established the Dallas Diocesan School Curriculum; collaborating with other teachers, other professional staff, and administrators in addressing instructional and/ or classroom issues; and responding to a wide range of inquiries from students’ parents regarding the instructional program and student progress.

Responsibilities:

  1. Report to work by 7:15 am, Mon-Fri, and leave between 3:15-5:00 pm.
  2. Create/implement the established curriculum.
  3. Plan and execute lessons; post them weekly on the L-drive.
  4. Effective classroom management.
  5. Manage student behavior for the purpose of providing a safe and optimal learning environment.
  6. Join the rotation of teachers/staff who assist with start-of-day and end-of-day student care procedures such as carpool.
  7. Oversee lunch and recess duty.
  8. Create a classroom environment that fosters growth and learning.
  9. Post grades in a timely manner.
  10. Maintain accurate records of student work.
  11. Monitor students in various environments, e.g. cafeteria, playgrounds, carpools, restrooms, fieldtrips.

Qualifications:

  1. At least a Bachelors Degree in Early Childhood Education and or grades 1-3, or the equivalent,
  2. Valid teaching certificate or 12 hours of education.
  3. Excellent communication and organizational skills
  4. Ability to teach creatively.
  5. 2yrs experience teaching Early Childhood and/or 1st-3rd grades preferred.
  6. Qualified to teach Religion in a Catholic School is a plus, but not required.
  7. Bilingual ( Spanish/English) is a plus, but not required.
  8. Be a team player.
